Most people go into the intense audit program at GE after the rotation (50%) or exit to opportunities in consulting. You do have a small shot at joining Blackstone.

10-15 years ago, the FMP was on a whole different level than other similar programs. Obviously, GE has since declined from its prime but the FMP itself is still among the best finance rotational programs around for undergrads. And while GE, and by relation the FMP, has come down from the height of its prestige, its also important to note that other competing top rotational programs have gotten much better in the same time frame.

So in 2005, if GE was at position 1 and the next best cohort of FLDPs were at position 4, the FMP has come down to position 3 and the other top FLDPs have risen from position 4 to 3 thus making position 3 the current day position 1.

But, FLDPs are overall harder to rank than say banks or consulting groups. Its also important to consider the industry you want to be in. If the idea of rising in an industrial conglomerate doesn't sound as appealing to you as say, working in technology, then apply for the FMP yes but also apply for Dell's, Microsoft's, and Apple's programs. If your only goal is to make it to a top MBA post-FLDP, then any "top" FLDP will do provided you execute on your job while in-program.
