Hours Worked by Department & Industry

Hi All,

I've seen some data points scatter around but hoping to centralize. I currently work in health insurance and would like to transition into tech or pharma. However, I have heard that the hours for tech and pharma are not as good. Consequently, tech and pharma both pay better than my current industry so I guess the increase in hours makes sense. Regardless, I want to get thoughts from y'all on which industries are demanding more hours than others.

Similarly, I am curious how hours worked varies by department within Corporate Finance (treasury, corp dev, corp vc, investor relations, fp&a). My current understanding is that corp dev makes the most and works the most (on average) than the other members of the corp finance family.

Thank You
