MBA for FPA
Backstory: 32, B.S. in business with good GPA(3.8) from non-target, went straight to grad school for Physical Therapy from solid state school (top 25/30), good GPA (3.6). No room for pay growth in this field, deciding to switch into finance.
Understand that high finance is out at this point, looking to get into FP&A at F500, and try to swing that into a CorpDev role would be the end goal ideally, but cool with making senior manager, taking home 130-170 In FPA
Question: With hard studying for GMAT, I could probably get into Top 30/20. Is it even worth it to attend Highest ranked B school I get accepted into, if I am content with FPA manager/director as the end goal? Or attend the lesser name school I could do while working full time and minimizing debt. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!
I work in FPA at an F50 and see this as a very borderline situation.
FPA you don’t really need an MBA, let alone a top one, but it will definitely increase your odds of getting the role / help you down the line. Alternative to top MBA: inexpensive regional MBA would do the trick unless you are set on more like F100 and/or tech.
CorpDev is company specific on if they will let people without deal backgrounds lateral interior their group, so keep that in mind when picking a company. Even a top MBA will barely help with the lateral of the company historical only brings in people with deal experience.
