Negotiating salary for strategy @ tech company

Salary range for strategy function at start-up tech company with Series B funding is $100k plus equity. Is this what others are seeing in the market and any tips to negotiate equity?

  1. What city?
  2. What's the equity # at and how does it vest?
  3. What's the valuation upside for the company at this point?

Can't answer anything without knowing that.

Located in west coast but not major city for VC/tech. Valuation upside possible - in growth industry, recent investment from PE funds, equity # and vesting schedule unknown. All speculative, positive feedback from final rounds with offer pending.

I think at the end of the day it all depends on total compensation and work life balance. Anybody who joined Stripe, Airbnb, Roblox, Coinbase, DoorDash, Palantir, Snowflake, etc. pre-ipo with decent equity package did incredibly well. Try to get a role at a company who's valuation has upside and offers a decent equity vesting arrangement. Ensure that you're not taking a role at a startup with limited potential that will work you 60-70 hours weekly for $150k-$175k in a HCOL area. Check out teamblind.com, they have much better info on total compensation for these types of roles.
