Pay for corp dev internship
Ignore title haven’t updated it since leaving banking. I’m a corp dev manager and a small / mm size tech company and we’re looking to start an internship program next year for the corp dev side.
Those who head up internships at your companies, can you shed some light on what those internships entail as well as the the going pay rate?
Thinking intern would help on deal work, general corp finance work as needed, and maybe have like a larger project be it they pitch us a target company to acquire or pitch a new market / product they think we should explore. Open to suggestions! For pay, is $15-25 / hour reasonable? Thinking we’d target junior and seniors and maybe grad students doing a career change into finance.
Idc about target schools. So will recruit all around. Thanks!
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the role of a corporate development intern can be quite diverse. They could be involved in deal work, general corporate finance tasks, and even spearhead larger projects such as pitching potential target companies for acquisition or exploring new markets/products.
As for the pay, it can vary widely depending on the company, location, and the intern's level of education and experience. However, a range of $15-25 per hour could be reasonable, especially if you're targeting juniors, seniors, and grad students looking to transition into finance.
Remember, the goal is to provide a valuable learning experience for the intern while also gaining some useful insights and work for your company. So, make sure the tasks assigned are meaningful and the pay is fair for the work they'll be doing.
And kudos to you for not just focusing on target schools! There's a lot of talent out there waiting to be discovered. Good luck with your internship program!

Feels light. In 2018 when I graduated I was seeing friends getting $30/hr+ banking, accounting and some CF too. I
OP here. Yeah after asking around some more seems more like $20 should be the low end and that’d be for students where this is their very first internship. For students with prior internships and / or prior full time work experience (grad students or people who worked then went to school) probably needs to be in that $25-$30+ range.
This is in southeast US so not crazy high cost of living.
Got it, I was in CA so HCOL. That feels about right then.
