Strategic Finance Headhunters
I started working as a credit analyst around 1.5 years ago at a BB and after doing networking calls & research I have decided that Strategic Finance interests me the most for my next job.
Do headhunters/recruitment firms have Corporate Finance arms where they will have Strategic Finance jobs available? If so, would anyone be able to share names? I am in in NYC and at least 100 people apply to any available job so going through headhunter/recruitment firms would be a lot easier.
No. You will be overwhelmingly more successful coming up with a list of firms you want to work for and checking LinkedIn daily for openings. Referral may help but honestly I never got any traction networking, got all interviews from resume drops.
I’ve been scouring at LinkedIn for the past few weeks and these strategic finance jobs are so scarce and hard to come across. Like ACTUAL stratfin with ex-bankers not pure FP&A. Am I using the wrong search terms? I just need U.S. and remote…
I think remote is shooting you in the foot tbh. I’ve seen a ton of team openings with mostly former ex-bankers but almost all of them are hybrid roles. The only key terms you need is “strategic finance” or “finance & strategy”. Read the JD, if not only about closing the books / variance reporting etc. and the current team members have a background in IB/MBB you’re good.
Location might also be an issue, im SF there were a ton of roles due to many start up HQs being here, not sure what the field looks like in NYC or other Tier 2 cities

Nope, just try to get in the pipeline now - as long as you have a couple people who will give you a strong recommendation you’re fine. And just because I’m feeling nice, here are already a few firms I know are recruiting for their Strategic finance teams as we speak:
- OpenAI
- Uber
- Robinhood (remote!)
- LinkedIn
would save those roles and the algorithm would start updating you accordingly for similar roles. It’s pretty good at learning your taste over time.
