Switch to Corp Dev after 2 or 4 yrs in IBD?

Curious to hear the difference in leaving IB to a corp dev role after 2 years (analyst) vs 4 years (analyst -> associate). Is the career trajectory better, or would 2 years yield the same opportunities after a few years in the new role? Also interested in salary differences.

If you know you want to do Corp Dev, then not much of a difference to leave after 4 years rather than 2 years. The key to making the transition will be your deal experience along with your stated interest in the Corp Dev. roles that you pursue.

Given the pay cut from IB, in my experience, there is not much of a salary difference for someone who comes in as an associate vs. analyst. The delineation point in terms of role and comp I have seen are:
