Too old for Finance Leadership Development Program?
Long story short, I spent 6 years in the Navy and now am finishing up my undergrad in finance at a non target school. I'll be 30 when I graduate and my main worry is, is that too old for a development program? I am networking my butt off looking primarily for investment banking but corporate finance is also very attractive to me.
Currently in a F100 FDLP, not sure there is a age limitation. Obviously most kids are early 20s fresh out of college because that's who it is primarily targeted to. Yet like any other job, if you interview well, fit in and do well, I don't see why it wouldn't work out. Feel free to PM me for details.
No, you're not too old. However, a little more will be expected of you. Always understand the "big picture" and be extremely professional and organized (bordering on OCD, just don't let anyone know...).
No one will care as long as you ace the interviews. In fact, they'd probably look kindly on your Navy experience as most of your cohort will only have internship experience. I'm a veteran and had no issues pulling entry level corp fin gigs, and leaned on my military experience heavily for the behavioral portion of interviews.
