What Major For Valuation?
Hey Everyone,
Recently, I've garnered an interest in Valuation to start my career - and potentially keep it going as I move forward. But to do valuation, should I major in accounting or finance?
I've been hearing so many mixed responses, and cannot tell. I personally love finance more than accounting, but just want to get feedback from people with experience.
Perhaps a double major if you can? Or major in the one you like best and minor in the other one? (Note: I'm only a student but those two suggestions came to mind)
I know at least at my school, with a finance major, we had to take at least 9 credit hours of accounting beyond the basic level. I think for valuation, as long as you understand the basic accounting behind where numbers came from, that a base in accounting would be nice, but the more important part would be the theory/predictive nature of finance. So I'd say finance major, and if you have the time add accounting as a double major or minor
Thanks for the helpful info
