What’s next? Career goal is finance Exec/C-suite

Worked in FP&A for a couple years right after UG, then have been in consulting (fin services/strat) for the last 5 years. What would be a good next step to take if my end goal is to be high level in finance (executive,SVP, CFO type roles)? Would jumping to corp dev be a good move or should I be aiming somewhere else?

As long as you're happy with your current company, don't leave until you find a job as a Director at a mid-sized company or larger. Could be years before you find the right position, but if you move back into corporate at the Manager-level, it could be much more difficult (and take longer) to make the jump to the next level.
