Does GPA matters for Private Credit Recruiting?
Current college senior and incoming FT at a BB product group in NY, GPA was great back when I was recruiting (3.8) but dropped all the way to 3.3 due to family instances and bad mental health. I can try my best academically this semester to bump it up but the highest it'll get is 3.4 / 3.5ish after round up. I am a double major in STEM btw.
My goal is to get into private credit / structured credit / credit buyside after 1 year in banking, wondering if this low GPA will held me back. Can I hedge my GPA with deals I do in IB / with experience?
Thanks
Usually once you've had 2 or moee years of FT experience, you can drop your GPA and/or move your edu section of your CV to the bottom.
Gotcha that’s good to hear, thanks!
Agreed here.
They really only care about your experience, as many firms do. The difference here is that they want to know your opinion too
