Finding out recruiter misled me
I accepted a new job and am feeling misled by what the recruiters told me during the interview process. They sold me that this position was 1-2 days in office, but it's turning out to be 4-5 days. This wouldn't normally be an issue for me, but the commute is at least an hour drive and even longer with traffic.
Am I right to feel like they misled me and is there anything I can do other than tough it out or look for a new job? Had I known it was going to be 4-5 days in office with this long of a commute, I probably would not have accepted this job...
How is this the recruiters fault? You went through an entire interview process, likely with multiple rounds and interviewers of varying seniority, and never thought to check with anyone what the in office schedule would be before accepting an offer? Sounds like this is on you boss.
I did ask about it during the interview process and was told it is hybrid and can expect a couple of days in office. I think the issue is around the culture. Most people come in 5x a week so I feel like I have to as well at least as I get settled in the role.
Again, you always ask to connect with someone your level before signing on the dotted line. It sounds more likely whoever approved the job description had put the firm’s policy. But you should have 100% followed up and confirmed.
This was the first time recruiting since i was a junior in college so i guess i shouldn’t have trusted the recruiter. Less learned for next time
