Josh Pack, Co-CEO of Fortress Investment Group, Dies at 51
Josh Pack, co-chief executive officer of Fortress Investment Group, has died. He was 51.
The alternative asset management firm confirmed Pack’s death in a statement. It didn’t give a cause.
“We are devastated by this loss,” Fortress said. “Josh was a gifted investor, a thoughtful strategist, a compassionate leader — and a deeply cherished friend to many.”
Fortress, which manages $53 billion, invests in strategies including corporate credit, asset-based finance, real estate and private equity. Pack joined the firm 23 years ago from Wells Fargo & Co.
Pack was planning to move to London from Dallas as part of a push to expand in Europe, targeting several senior hires, he said in an interview published in May.
Drew McKnight, co-CEO and managing partner, will continue to lead the firm, and Jack Neumark will step into the same role alongside him, the company said. Executive Chairman Pete Briger will deepen his engagement with the firm and its operations for the immediate future.
Pack also previously oversaw Fortress’s investments in private credit, private equity, real estate and and other areas. He started off in the firm’s credit funds business. He attended the US Air Force Academy and received an economics degree from California State University, San Marcos.
