My first "big bank" job isn't what I expected
So, I recently left my first job out of college (9 months) as a credit analyst at a tiny commercial bank to join a much larger bank's Institutional Credit Management team, working on syndicated transactions. Honestly, my finance master's and undergrad degrees feel pretty useless here. The job is basically being a go-between for the deal team and operations – someone without a finance background could easily do it.
On the plus side, the name of this bank on my resume will definitely carry weight, and the training/resources are way better than my old bank (which was super small). I'm still glad I made the move.
Even though I'm only a month in, I'm already thinking about my next step. I knew this wasn't my dream job going in. My bank has a 12-month rule before you can apply internally. Any tips for lateraling within a large bank?
