PC firm. Networked with team hard: Cousin worked there for 6 years. Met with VP 3 times Associate 1 time Intern 1 time. All gave me good advice and sent me prep material for the interview process. Applications closed last week and I haven’t heard back yet after a week. My cousin texted the team (his internal connections) and no response. He sent another message and still nothing. The VP answered and said that “they are circling up on first rounds today and that I’m not out” -> this was on Tuesday. Today is Friday… am I out of the running?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Follow Up Politely: Send a polite follow-up email to the VP, Associate, and Intern you met with. Express your continued interest in the position and inquire about the status of your application.

  2. Leverage Your Cousin: Ask your cousin to follow up again, but this time suggest he ask if there is any additional information or documentation you can provide to support your application.

  3. Be Patient: Understand that the hiring process can take time, especially if they are reviewing many applications. Give it another week before following up again.

  4. Network Further: Continue networking with other contacts within the firm or industry. Attend any upcoming networking events or reach out to other professionals who might provide additional insights or opportunities.

  5. Prepare for Interviews: Use the prep material provided by your contacts to continue preparing for potential interviews. This will ensure you are ready when you do get a response.

  6. Explore Other Opportunities: While waiting, keep applying to other firms and opportunities. This will keep your options open and reduce the pressure on this single application.

By following these steps, you can stay proactive and maintain a positive impression with the firm while also keeping your career options open.
