Things to do during freshman summer for DCM roles?

Thought I would put this out there as I’ve been having some difficulty finding opportunities.
I am a current freshman majoring in Finance and Math at a school in the Bay Area. I had an internship at a DCM analysis firm last summer covering IG and HY bond data but couldn’t leverage that into anything beyond networking I’ve done throughout the school year.
I really enjoyed the DCM world and was wondering what kind of things I should try to do over the summer to improve my chances of landing a role in summer 2027/28? There wasn’t much for me internship wise and I don’t want to leave a gap in my resume.
