BB ER SA - Anything I should do to prep to stand out?

Basically the title. I'll be doing a summer in a BB Equity Research division in 2021. I'm wondering what to prep before I go? Or should I just enjoy life for now?

Also, any tips to get a return offer, specifically for ER? Lots of stuff for IB everywhere, I'm assuming most applies.

Thanks.

Worked as an SA at a BB this past summer and received FT offer. I think one of the most useful things would be to read up on your sector a lot before you start. If you get access to the firm's research, read what your analyst puts out to understand how they view the sector so by the time you start, you'll have a sense of what type of work they do. The modeling is important so brush up on excel and technicals — but again, I stress knowing the sector pretty well because modeling can be heavily dependent on the sector i.e., REIT, FIG, Tech, and Pharma are modeled differently. You'll be working with the team during Q2 earnings so know three statement modeling for sure — I spent a good amount of time modeling out earnings. And lastly, I'd say figure out a way that you can contribute to the team, like if you have a background in/know a sector pretty well, most analysts are open to hearing some type of implementation of your input in the work that you do (but only when it's appropriate ofc). Good luck!
