Rising Sophomore clueless about recruiting timeline

Hello all, current rising sophomore at a decent semi-target school and particularly interested in markets and equity research within sell-side at first. lots of these forums don't have a specific timeline and it seems to be under the analyst's judgment for hiring interns, ect. how true is this, where is the best place to find info about internships?

I wanted to know what i should be doing now to best prepare for sophomore year recruiting and being as successful as possible with this cycle.

I am also not 100% sure what area of finance I want to commit to, and i feel scared to commit to one so early. Right now i am at a MM REPE firm in NYC and like i but definitely want something more equities-oriented.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Not super familiar with current timelines either, believe most are late spring and vary by firm. Would network with teams you’re interested in to understand the timeline
