Buy Side Equity Research Opps

Hi, I have recently accepted a graduate job to start as an Equity Research Analyst at one of the large asset managers in London (T Rowe, Fid, BR, Van etc) and whilst I really like the sound of the job I was wondering what the exit opps would be later down the road if I decided to move in 3 years time or so. Could I move to an IBD in the same industry coverage group? Could I move to a hedge fund etc? I would really appreciate any insight!

I do not know much about Vanguard but if you are at any of the first three I would say a massive congratulations as it is a fantastic role. Many people spend their entire careers at those three firms because of the top tier pay, top quality research and good WLB.

I have no clue why you would want to leave buy-side for a sell-side ER job at a bank. The job you currently have IS THE EXIT OPP. As for potential HF exits, its surely possible but make sure you take all three levels of CFA and pass first time. With either of the first three names and CFA level 3 you will have a good shot at L/S Equity HF roles.
