For those who trade on the side...

On average what percentage of your income comes from individual investing each year and how active are you?

I know everyone has different investing methods and goals but I am interested to hearing different views.

Also interested.

Specifically, how much did you start with in your PA? Do you put money in to your PA at regular intervals or let capital appreciation grow your capital base? What kind of general strategies do you use? How much time do you spend weekly/monthly on research/analysis/trading for your PA?

Thanks in advance if anyone can add some color. I'm getting to the point in my career I feel I can devote some time/money to my PA (after paying down college loans) and just looking to see what some others are doing.

trazer985after hours research using company resources and my own algorithms, i wont buy anything i havent tipped to my firm, and i wont trade against them. I buy and hold and maybe 2 hours a fortnight spent on it.

I'm guessing you're in either a SS or BS research role? Or trading?

edit: was thinking you'd replying to another post of mine..

Dad's a partner in big 4 audit,so cant trade anything on his restriction list, but I like to mix quant/stat arb (what i do) with macro style plays. As an arbitrageur, I look for combinations that cannot coexist, and scalp them, i do the same with my investments. My firm is a HF that likes to play a few longer term strats and they ask me to look into a certain play for them and come back with the best stuff.
