Help with operating model

Building out a basic 3 statement model and could use some help with forecasting. Company I'm modeling has "long term assets" listed in its balance sheet....how do you project that? Can that be combined with other intangible assets and projected using the roll-forward method with purchases and amortization? What kind of assumptions am I to make? Confused as to how to approach this line item...appreciate any help.

Look at MD&A (or supplementary data, accounting disclosures, etc.) in 10k for more details. They should provide information on what is being included in that line item - although sometimes they don't.  If it is related to PPE then include it in the roll forward (or if it is being driven by the company's operations in any way). If there is no information on it, look at the historical trend. If it is basically flat, straight line it. This is how I would attempt to solve it.  A lot of times it is easier to forecast some items as % of revenue etc. and it doesn't really have a big impact on the model vs. getting more granular.

Appreciate the input. Historical data for that line item hasn't been flat for the entire 5 years I'm looking at and I can't seem to find anything that relates it to PPE/what exactly is listed under there. Think I'll just take it as a % of rev.

Follow up question - what's the standard for projecting long-term investments? Apologize if these are basic questions, trying to figure this all out
