How Hard Is It To Transition From Tech ER to Credit Research?

Working in a tech vertical at a II ranked team at a BB. How hard would it be for someone like me to transition into credit research? Also, how long would it take for someone in credit research to get HF looks?

Any anecdotal stories?

Two of my colleagues made the jump directly from equity research to buyside credit research. I think one had covered utilities and the other had prior credit experience - if you want a shop to take a chance on you, definitely have a strong spin on why you want to do credit. Would say it's a L curve in terms of getting looks - easy to get looks as a junior, less so towards middle tenure, thereafter case by case. The more junior you are the more networking will help.
