Is there a future for Global Research? (Fixed Income/ER/Macro?)

Hi All,

Just wanted peoples thoughts on what the state of the industry is now and whether there is a future there for new analysts?

I know traditional exits for ER people have been AM's and some L/S HF's and I assume similar for people in Fixed Income for credit funds. Given some of the new regulation such as MIFID 2 in Europe and some publication about sell-side research being less valuable now, are these exit opportunities still available or are you at a greater risk of being made redundant than say IBD/AM?
