Umer Raffat is the goat

Just read his bio real quick. He was number one in large cap biotech his first year covering the space… that’s insane to me. Also he’s been ranked number 1 19 years in a row and is now in the II hall of fame.

I really want to read his research and see what makes it stand out. Anyone care to share their opinions?

He’s no1 his first year because his former boss/ mentor Mark Schoenebaum was a no 1 analyst for many years who basically “destroyed” the rest of the biotech analysts on ranking with 50% of the votes. Mark had health issues and had to leave the industry and died a few years later. In any case he inherited Mark’s contacts from that get go which helped. Having said that, investors like his research because he stirs the pot with “deep” analyses which are hit or miss. Probably more miss or hit or just stuffs that don’t matter in the end. And sometimes investors feed him info where Evercore can publish those research while BB cannot . His style of writing is also quick, short, almost like he’s talking to you directly. But that writing style would not fly at BBs because compliance, editorials just wouldn’t allow them.
