What's the mood music leading into bonus season?

Wondering what the mood music is like leading into Research bonuses this year...

At my bank (BB), I think generally people felt underpaid past 2 years. Some accepted it due to poor overall conditions. Now some saying, given better conditions in 2024, if comp doesn't pick up, they're out.

What's the vibe elsewhere?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the mood leading into bonus season seems to be a mix of frustration and skepticism across the industry. Many professionals feel that despite better conditions in 2024, compensation might not reflect the improvements. Historically, there’s been a trend of dissatisfaction, with employees feeling underpaid and undervalued, especially in roles like Research.

The sentiment is that if bonuses and pay don't align with expectations, many are considering leaving their roles. This aligns with broader trends in banking, where talent retention has been a challenge due to declining relative attractiveness of pay and lifestyle.
