Who to reach out to next?

I am a second semester sophomore at a non-target (finance major) looking for people to contact/connect with. I have practically zero actual experience. So I am still keen on finding any kind of internship in equity research. A few months ago someone reached out to me but it fell through and I wasn't able to do it. I want to escape from being forced into financial advisory which I think I would still like but not as much as ER. Right now I am west coast and would like to stay that way. Ideas for what companies to cold-call or walk in on? Also I am intending on taking CFA L1 as soon as I graduate. Alternatively I have an interest in indices beyond just S&P500 etc common knowledge ones. And like the wide/diverse space that companies like MSCI have for both products and index calculation/format.

Willing to fly to NYC for a visit (coffee, lunch etc) on me. Got 77k AA miles I need to use up.
