Wolfe Research Pay is LOWWWW

Holy shit - just got an offer at Wolfe (I’m at a BB with a mid analyst). And wow the haircut I’m taking even as a senior analyst is insane. 150 all in for senior analyst at Wolfe… I made that as a first year ED associate at a BB.

Is the discount worth it to work for a top ranked analyst?

I’m going to assume your title is correct and you’re a 23 grad? If so I would think ~150 is above what I would personally expect. For reference I’m a 22 grad and recently received an offer for BAML citing ~150 all in and I made ~135 last year (currently at a lower end BB).

I know Wolfe has a bad rep for associate pay but from my understanding that’s more for juniors just entering the industry.

Actually, the pay above was wrong. BofA was $110, $125, $150. MS and the others were $125, $150, $175. In any case, for a third year analyst the base should be $150k and all-in should definitely be in the $200k range.

I think besides the analyst's ranking, you should also consider that Wolfe isn't the most prestigious firm. I know the analyst is more important than the firm but it also depends if the analyst is really in his/her own league, or if he/she is simply in the top 3-5. Wolfe likely does not get the corporate access that other firms get. Just something to think about.

For 3 YOE that’s brutal pay. I’d def negotiate if could. Im a 23’ grad (PhD) in biotech and did $205k first year all in. I expect >$225k this year all in. Maybe bio is diff since have advanced degrees but I know a few with 5-7 YOE doing 750k+
