Allen Edmonds for large or wide feet

I recently bought a pair of the Montecito penny loafer from Allen Edmonds. I have pretty wide feet, particularly at the top of the foot (due to bunions on my big toe), so i ordered the wide size (E), which accommodates my foot in other brands like Cole Haan and Johnston & Murphy.

However, with Allen Edmonds, their "wide" size seems to apply only to the body of the shoe (the part from the base of the toes to the heel), and not to the front (where i need the extra width). So not only is the front way too tight, but also the body of the shoe fans out a bit around the opening, where the extra width is. Normally i would try to break them in, but they fit my foot so poorly that i'm not going to hold out hope.

Anyone else with wide feet and/or bunions encounter this problem with Allen Edmonds? Am i going to have to avoid AE and stick to Cole Haan/J&M?

Thanks guys

I believe the front of the shoe is supposed to fit pretty tight/snug. I am double EE btw, not sure if AE carries those
