Any recommendations for leather laptop/messenger bags?
Hi All,
I'm going to be starting as an analyst at a BB in NYC and am looking for a classic, solid laptop/messenger bag. I'm a big fan of traditional full-grain brown leather with clean lines and nothing too outlandish. Targeting $200-400.

Got a very durable, very simple black leather Longchamp large briefcase(was a gift, and gotta say a good one). I can fit my laptop and everything I need.

Went to their website and they have some really great deals. Love to look of them too. They hold up okay? Seems way too cheap to be quality.

Tumi, if you're an Investment Banker that is... grab one from the website and initial it BSD.
Some of their leathers look pretty solid. And doing PE at a large MM bank.
I like a few that Cole Haan carries and they go on sale a lot.

Stop into Nordstrom rack on 31st, sometimes they have some nice ones. I have a Cole Haan that looks nice and does the job. Also check ebay for some used ones if that's cool with you.
Can't go wrong with Tumi. I'd prefer backpacks over messenger bags and have had my Tumi one for years with no issues. It's a good, functional brand. Nice enough that no one will ever give you shit about it, but also functional enough that it actually works and you won't worry about scuffing your $1,500 leather backpack from YSL.

If you have a leather worker or leather repair shop near you, stop in and check out what they offer. I had a messenger bag/satchel made a few years ago and I absolutely love it. It's hard to beat a high-quality handmade bag. It's nothing fancy, but I'm not really a fancy dude so it suits me well. The leather has aged really well and looks better with a little wear-and-tear on it. I can't remember exactly what it cost but I think it was in the neighborhood or $300-$400.
