Best work pants for men-Expert recommendations to choose

I researched the best work pants as I need something durable for my new construction job. i have been experiencing my regular jeans wearing out too quickly and not holding up on site. i went through reviews from trusted sources like Gear Junkie and Forbes and after comparing many options these two kept coming up as the top choices:

Carhartt Rigby Double-front Dungaree

Dickies Men’s Original 874 Work Pants

however, i am having trouble deciding which one would be better for me and i would love to get your expert advice and hoping maybe some construction workers or tradespeople on this forum can also share their advice. i usually work long hours outdoors and need pants that are tough but comfortable. Which one is recommended for me? Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Based on the most helpful WSO content, while the context doesn't specifically address construction work pants, it does provide insights into durable and tailored options for individuals with specific needs. For your situation, here are some tailored recommendations:

  1. Durability and Comfort: If you're looking for pants that can withstand long hours and tough conditions, brands like Bonobos athletic fit chinos or Ermenegildo Zegna stretch chinos are highlighted for their durability and comfort. While these are more tailored for office or business casual settings, they emphasize the importance of stretch and fit, which could translate well into workwear.

  2. Tailoring for Fit: Many users on WSO recommend tailoring pants to ensure they fit perfectly, especially for those with unique body types or specific needs. This could be a consideration if you find a durable pair that doesn't fit perfectly off the rack.

  3. Alternative Suggestions: For a construction job, you might want to explore brands known for their ruggedness, like Carhartt or Dickies, as you mentioned. While these aren't directly discussed in the WSO threads, their reputation aligns with the need for tough, long-lasting workwear.

  4. Practical Tips: Consider pants with reinforced areas (like double-fronts) for added durability, and look for materials that offer a balance of toughness and flexibility to ensure comfort during long hours.

If you're leaning towards Carhartt or Dickies, Carhartt's Rigby Double-front Dungaree might offer better durability with its double-front design, while Dickies 874 Work Pants are known for their classic fit and affordability. Ultimately, the choice depends on your preference for fit, style, and specific worksite demands.

thanks for your valuable opinions I also asked for construction job as you mentioned both are best so I will lean towards one of these

That makes sense Lululemon and Peter Millar definitely have the edge on breathability and comfort, especially indoors or in hotter climates. For construction work though  I asked you to suggest one of these two prodycts

No hate but I never thought I’d see the day a construction worker posted on WSO.

And for my 2c I personally love Carhartt clothing but I’ve never put it through the paces like you’ll be doing so

Duluth trading CO has pretty tough jeans.
Reality is that no pair of jeans are going to be good for 12 months if you're working heavy construction like concrete or rebar. I would recommend vintage Carhartt or VIntage Dickie's. Better quality then than now.
