Clothing brand Recs for Quality

Was wondering if I could get some recs on various articles of clothing that I have in my wardrobe. Looking for quality/price. Willing to spend more for high quality items but not looking to pay a premium for brand name.

Looking to get some more Q-zips, polos (casual + office), crewneck sweater tees, pants (office + going out), jackets, casual button-ups (think searsucker casual type shirts). Any advice for brands with solid prices/deals would be appreciated

For building a wardrobe with quality items at reasonable prices, here are some recommendations based on the most helpful WSO content:

Quarter-Zips (Q-Zips)

  • Brunello Cucinelli: Known for their knits, though pricey, they offer exceptional quality. Look for discounts or older season items to save.
  • Uniqlo: Affordable and reliable for layering pieces like lightweight quarter-zips.

Polos (Casual + Office)

  • Banana Republic: Offers a good balance of quality and price, especially during sales.
  • J.Crew: Great for casual and office-appropriate polos with a variety of fits and colors.
  • Everlane: Known for minimalist, high-quality basics at reasonable prices.

Crewneck Sweaters

  • Brunello Cucinelli: Again, a high-end option for knits, but worth it if you find deals.
  • Uniqlo: Affordable and durable, with a variety of colors and styles.
  • Club Monaco: Slightly trend-forward but still classic, offering good quality for the price.

Pants (Office + Going Out)

  • Banana Republic: Reliable for office-appropriate dress pants and chinos.
  • J.Crew: Offers versatile options for both office and casual outings.
  • Express: Affordable and stylish, especially for slim-fit options.

Jackets

  • Canali: High-quality jackets, though best purchased at steep discounts.
  • Eidos: Offers stylish and well-made jackets, but look for sales to get the best value.
  • Zara: Budget-friendly for trendy outerwear, though quality can vary.

Casual Button-Ups

  • Brooks Brothers: Classic and high-quality, especially for seersucker and other casual styles.
  • Charles Tyrwhitt: Affordable and well-made shirts, often with deals on multi-packs.
  • Uniqlo: Great for budget-friendly, casual button-ups.

General Tips

  • Sales and Discounts: Look for sales at department stores like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, and Saks for high-end brands at reduced prices.
  • Mix and Match: Focus on versatile colors like blues, greys, and browns to maximize outfit combinations.
  • Tailoring: Invest in tailoring for a perfect fit, especially for jackets and pants.

These brands and strategies should help you build a wardrobe that balances quality and price effectively!

I've been focused on upgrading my wardrobe for the past 2 or 3 years. Below are my recommendations in general:

Less Expensive

  • Uniqlo (Japanese Forward; good quality and wide range of items)
  • Abercrombie (Trendy; quality is hit or miss)
  • Banana Republic Factory (Preppy; good basics and very inexpensive with sales)
  • Quince (Large Variety; good value for money, however, they just dupe other brands)
  • Shoes: Adidas / New Balance

Mid Range

  • J Crew (Japanese/Preppy; decent value on sale and wide range of items)
  • Banana Republic (Preppy; less variety than J Crew and typically a bit more expensive)
  • Huckberry (Outdoorsy; not a standalone brand, but they have a nice collection/catalog)
  • Lululemon / Rhone / Vurori for Athleisure
  • Shoes: Beckett Simonon / Meermin
  • Jeans: Levi's

More Expensive

  • Buck Mason (Vintage/Military/Western; high quality, but the aesthetic isn't for everyone)
  • Todd Snyder (Trendy; good quality, but without sales, it is very $$$$)
