Day-to-day Wardrobe for Analysts

Hey all, wondering if any analysts on here can comment on what is in their closet.

More specifically 1. How many suits, shirts, shoes and ties 2. What color/pattern of ties

I have seen a couple of older posts, but i wanted to get an updated census with more input to offset outliers.

Thanks!

Two suits — navy and charcoal. ~15 shirts — mix of light blue, white, and a few patterned shirts Three pairs of shoes — black cap toe, brown cap toe, brown penny loafers ~10 ties — different shades of blue, purple, pink, red, etc

White shirts are commodities for analysts. They will get stained easily or you'll sweat through them on the subway, and you'll want to keep them clean/fresh. If not, you'll still want enough to rotate through for airing after each wear, when laundering isn't necessary. Since they're usually sold on discount if you buy multiple at a time, a dozen within the $25-$50 range a pop sounds like a reasonable one-time purchase (no need to overspend on shirts at this level).

2 suits – both navy. 5 shirts – mix of light blue and white. don't understand why people need 10-15 if you can just do laundry every week. works out for me since i have in unit washer/dryer and i wear non-iron shirts from CT 2 pairs of shoes – black cap toe and black penny loafers 4 ties – got them back in college - last one i bought was like 2.5 years ago. 2 ties are enough tbh
