Grand Seiko?
I was thinking about buying a new watch with a Rolex in mind but recently they have become way too common and overpriced..
So while looking at some other suspects like Omega etc. i came across Grand Seiko with almost all the reviews being positive and comparing it to Rolex.
What do you guys think of Grand Seiko? Most people outside The watch world don’t know that they’re as expensive but their quality looks and pretty much everything is fantastic….
Would love to know your suggestions..
Thanks
God those watches are gorgeous. If you're going to shell out for a luxury good, the ultimate opinion you take into consideration should be your own. Shelling out >5k for a watch is a personal decision and if you like the watch, you certainly can't argue with the quality or craftsmanship behind it. You don't need the most "prestigious" watch. You just need the watch you like. I plan to get a GS as my first big boy watch.
Same, would love a SBGA211 or SLGH005 one day.
piece of metal on ya wrist… you know
Their heritage spring drive models are sick. Would buy
100% would recommend. Recently picked up an SBGA413 and honestly can’t complain
+1
And as someone also else pointed out, Grand Seiko’s aren’t as commoditized / mass-consumed as Rolex’s and Omegas, as it’s a somewhat well-kept secret for real luxury watch enthusiasts. As such, you won’t get stereotyped with the same mainstream tropes that Rolex’s suffer from
Amazing watches, so many great designs. Looking to get a Snowflake within the next 12 months.
What's the pricing on the Snowflakes nowadays? It's one of the few GS that I would even remotely consider but they struck me as really expensive (for what they are) at the time. What kind of pricing are you seeing now?
Looking around £5k, similar in grey market too but is readily available at ADs so no need to go grey.
That birch dial evo 9 model is absolutely insane (SLGA009). Craftsmanship is incredible in person too.
Love Grand Seiko and looking to purchase one over the next few months. Quality of finishing for the price is pretty unparalleled, and they’re generally readily available so you don’t have to play stupid games with the AD like you would for Rolex.
The one added benefit is that Grand Seiko is pretty unknown outside the watch world, so in a corporate environment there isn’t a risk where senior people might be unhappy with someone junior wearing a “flashy” watch that you might have with a Rolex or Omega.
You would need to spend $50,000 on another brand to get the quality of a $5,000 Grand Seiko
No you wouldn't lol.
