How to avoid sweating on the way to work

I dont know if anyone else in NYC experiences this during ths eummer but if i take the subway to work or even have to walk ten minutes outside at a decent pace to be on time I just sweat,.... and the worst part is it seems to hbappen only when i stop walking so right when i get to work BAM ... any tips on how to avoid this shit? or at the least any empathy?

Tips to Avoid Sweating in the Heat

The summer heat can be exceptionally brutal and unforgiving, leading to the unpleasant sensation of sweating in your clothes. This sensation could be exacerbated by lingering sweat lines on dress shirts or the smelling like sweat when coming into work.

However, while no one can simply stop sweating in the heat on their way to work, the community of WSO has come together with a couple tips to help you freshen up for your hot commute.

  • Walk through shade or cut through buildings if possible
  • Carry a bottle of water and stay hydrated
  • Either pack a spare shirt or leave one at the office
  • Unbutton another button and roll your sleeves
  • Take a cold shower and wash your face with cold water
  • Take a cab
  • Pack deodorant

If you have any other tips regarding how to stay fresh during the summer heat please comment below!

In addition to what was already said, here are some brainstorming points: - try to find buildings to walk through if that is an option - try walking slower / using less energy - Have a spare shirt /undershirt just in case in your locker at work - lighten your load in your bag - and make sure you aren't wearing your bag so that you have very identifiable sweat marks - take escalators, elevators if applicable - and finally, ice water or something cold to cool you down

haha dude I was literally thinking this when I was out on my lunch break and though I need to post a thread on this lol. I just try to stay on the shady side of the street whenever possible. This heat fucking sucks

Nice, impractical answer: Move closer to your office.

The weather's been so f**ing hot lately that even if you walk to work naked, you are still going to sweat. I definitely suggest unbuttoning your shirt (make sure to wear an under shirt unless if you want sweat stains, especially on blue shirts) and holding your jacket and tie. Also it really helps to wash your face with cold water once you get to work, (assuming you have time) and it will definitely freshen you up. I think one of the previous posters mentioned this, but try taking a cold shower and take a cab as quickly as possible to work, without having spend any time outside in the heat.

Also too much of anything i.e deodorant, cologne or whatever will make your work area smell like a department store and it could be distracting to you as well with the possibility of a headache to follow.

In Japan they sell these packs of wipes, some are made for face, others are made for the body. There is one branded as "ICE" (basically soaked in menthol) and it is so strong that it can feel burning if you use too much at once. It keeps me from sweating as much if I wipe before setting out. Might also have a few volatile chemicals from China that will give me cancer one day, whatever works eh.

It isn't going to stop you from sweating but it certainly helps manage how cool you stay and helps evaporate that sweat so you don't have wet marks on your shirts, etc.

I use their undershirts, socks and Original series boxers and it is such a dramatic difference from regular cotton boxer briefs. I just starting using their products about a month ago and swear by them now.
