Luxury Wallets and Cardholders

I'm looking to treat myself to a luxury wallet for an early career milestone.

I'm leaning towards a small cardholder, but am open to pocket organizers as well. I need at least 4cc spots, but would prefer 5 or 6. I tend to gravitate towards black, navy, and green.

I'm considering the options below, but am open to others:

Card Holders

Pocket Organizers

  • Bottega Veneta Flap Card Case ($520)
  • Smythson Folded Card Holder in Panama ($245)
  • Louis Vuitton Pocket Organizer ($425) ($425) ($475)
  • Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Piccolo Flap Card Case ($550)

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the wallets above or other suggestions.

I like the look of the Ferragamo cardholder the most. I've had a clean black SLP cardholder for years that's served me well, though, honestly, with Apple Pay I almost never take out my wallet anymore...

Not in the same ‘luxury’ space as the above but the cardholders from SecrID (made in the Netherlands I believe) are honestly top notch. The quality is great, the mechanism for popping up the cards is very smooth (even fidgety) and you can splash on some special designs or custom engravings if you want to make it special (I have my initials engraved on the metal part). On my second one right now and the first lasted me ~5 years.

“If you know you know” ha

That said they are of the highest quality leather of the mass market luxury brands (Gucci, Ferragamo, etc). I wouldn’t consider any other global brand but the woven wallet is bulky and an attention seeker. Would consider other shops like Aspinal, Ettinger, Smythson, Pickett, Launer too

Family works in fashion

I’m curious, what makes Aspinal, Smythson, etc. better than the big fashion houses? Is the leather quality significantly better or is it just a better value due to the more limited marketing?

Find that big fashion houses are a bit more commoditized now and won’t last, they will use cheaper grains / qualities knowing they can get away with it since they slap some disgusting large logo on it knowing someone who wanted to look wealthy will buy it. A bit separately - think about the Chanel model, the price inflation is insane while the quality has drastically gone down (use of lower quality leather, no longer hand made, etc.). However, they continue to do well because their strategy of pricing exclusivity works. It’s a really interesting industry. Note for all these houses couture is completely different. So, what you get on the high street is a completely different for what the true high net worth clients get.

I don't think there's a single card I'd store in a cardholder that I can't add to my phone. So great to have one less item in my pocket.
