Someone told me quality declined after LBO. anyone have experience with AE purchased recently?
They are prone to the occasional funny QC issue (bad clicking, rows of stitching not lining up, loose grain in obvious spot, etc.)... been the case since pre-COVID. That said, still a great deal at sale prices and I do own a 10+ year old Park Ave that's up for a 2nd resole soon...
Also, dainite lasts way longer than their standard leather sole. Very worth the $25 upcharge if you plan to use for travel.

At that price point I really like grant stone. The brand takes significant inspiration fromAlden.
Edit: while stylish, I wouldn’t recommend Ferragamo. You can find much higher quality construction / materials for a comparable price point. If you really want to get Ferragamo they have a Tramezza line which is better constructed than their standard line.
