Suit Brand (Mid to Upper Tiers)

Have two navy suits from SuitSupply and am looking to upgrade to something nicer ... any input would be nice. I'm also curious to learn more about these certain brands if you have one:

Brands I'm curious about

  1. Sartoria Partenopea (did these people go out of business? thought I heard their name a few years back)
  2. Caruso
  3. House of Bijan
  4. Regent (Germany boutique)
  5. Belvest
  6. Corneliani
  7. Canali

Most likely my next suit will come from one of the above. Advice or thoughts appreciated.

Oliver Wicks is MTM and will reimburse your for any alternations up to like $150. Great brand and imo best bang for your buck around the $700 price point

Lol. A friend gave me the name. Going to steer clear now.

Looks like $1-2k.

Good to know at $3k I can just get a custom suit.

Yeah I recommend custom if you don't mind going up a bit in price. You can get access to great wools (VBC, Zegna, Loro if you shell out a bit more) and a suit perfectly tailored to your dimensions and preferences (fit, button colors, lining, lapel width etc)

I really don't see the point of going off the rack at that price point

For #1 - Partenopea did go under. Mauro Blasi (owner's son) branched off into a new eponymous brand. Little hard to find, but their jackets are excellent fwiw.

Canali and Corneliani are great value if 50%+ off. Bloomingdales day after Christmas or Saks outlet are reliable ways to find discounted without playing eBay roulette.

And +1 for Isaia, great if you're in shape or just skinny (me). Their default fit is drop 8. Easy to snag big discounts towards end of Saks/Neiman sales or at sample sales if in NYC (260 is one vendor I've seen host).

If you wanted to go wild looking at brands, a fairly exhaustive list can be found here:

And if you wanted to look into going up the value chain in custom/bespoke suits beyond the sub $1k price range, plenty of options here:

Ralph Lauren, they do MTM and bespoke and have books on books of customization all nicer than suitsupply by literal miles. You can choose if you’re spending 1500 or 7000 based on the fabrics you’re choosing.

Robbie & Co offer custom suits.

Price $1200 to over $5000.

You’re wearing Suitsupply but you’re considering Canali?

That’s like driving a Camry but thinking of upgrading to a Bentley.

what the hell?
