Highly depends on what your budget is and the type of watch you want.

Daily I tend to rotate between Tudor BB58 blue and vintage DJ36 w/ a white dial as well as a Seiko SKX009 and Tissot PRX. I have a Zenith El Primero which is a bit more for special occasions.

Recently put myself on a list for a BLNR GMT for which I’ll probably sell my BB58 towards.

I recently got the green version of the PRX and love it. I went ahead and got a green rubber strap from Delugs too.

Watches are an interest/hobby of mine, but at my seniority, I don't have anything nice yet (waiting for my first-year bonus). Always a good idea to look at buying these used if you can get them from a reputable dealer. Below is a list of some good/popular/my favorite watches by style and price. Luxury is generally >$1k and "Starter" is <$1k

Dress

  1. Luxury: Cartier Tank, JLC Reverso, JLC Master Ultra Thin, IWC Portigiuzer, IWC Portofino, Glashutte Panomaticlunar, Omega De Ville, Longines Heritage Sector Dial, Grand Seiko Elegance / Heritage Collection (SBGY007, SBGW231, SBGA407, etc.) (A Lange-Sohne, Breguet, PP Calatrava, etc. are great as well, but $$$)
  2. "Starter": Seiko Presage, Orient Bambino, etc.

Everyday

  1. Luxury: Omega Seamaster Aquaterra, Omega Speedmaster, Cartier Santos, Rolex Datejust, Rolex OP, Rolex Explorer I, IWC Mark XX or XVIII, Grand Seiko Elegance / Heritage Collection (SBGH277, SBGA413G, SBGM221, SBGA211, etc.), Tag Heuer Carrera, Tudor 1926, Tudor Black Bay 36/41, Longines Spirit (and Spirit Zulu Time) etc. (Vacheron Constantin Overseas is great, but $$$)
  2. "Starter": Tissot Gentleman Powermatic, some versions of the Hamilton Khaki Field, some versions of the Seiko Alpinist, etc.

Sport

  1. Luxury: Rolex Sub, Rolex Explorer II, Rolex GMT, Omega Seamaster Diver (or Heritage), Glashutte Orginal SeaQ, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, Tudor Black Bay 58, Tudor Pelagos, Zenith El Primero, Longines Legend Diver, (Rolex Daytona, PP Nautalis, AP Royal Oak are great but $$$)
  2. "Starter": Tissot PRX, some versions of the Hamilton Khaki Field, some versions of the Seiko Alpinist, a lot of Seiko dive watches

In addition to the above, I left off some great brands like Oris, Breitling, Nomos, Frederique Constant, Panerai etc. as they are personally not my style. Out of the list, I'm particularly keen on the Omega Aquaterra, Cartier Tank + Santos, GO SeaQ, IWC Mark XX, Rolex Datejust (Fluted + Jubilee), Seiko Presage (Cocktail Time), and the Tudor BB58

Vacheron if you can afford it (Fiftysix model for a 'reasonably' priced one). Frederique Constant if you can't. End of story. I see all these other guys shout out random watch brands and frankly they all look like crap.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
