High horology is art. I would recommend watching videos on brands like Gronefeld, MB&F, FP Journe, A. Lange & Sohne, Laurent Ferrier, etc... The amount of work and raw skill involved in making some of the watches by the brands I mentioned is mind blowing and very very comparable to any other art form.

But anything like a Rolex...you're absolutely correct. Those are overpriced with zero artistic element for the most part.

People who can afford a nice watch rarely use them for the time of day. My Daytona isn't even wound up half the time I wear it :-)

Depends on which industry and company you're asking about but for a large number of them, MD is the top of the mark. From there, depending on the MD, geography, group, etc the only other option is CEO, COO, etc. But most of them are happy to stay within the MD ranks, that provides more than enough to keep them busy.

Have seen an assortment, most are on the higher end as one would expect. There's the apple watch guy, then the guys who rock the Pateks, Vacherons, JLCs, etc. Honestly I've seen a lot of the older MDs are a lot less flashy than the younger MDs both in terms of their watches and their dress. Feel like the older guys I know lived through the glam period on the street and are kind of over the days of having an overly flashy timepiece.
