where to eat on broadway before a show?
so I'm going to my first broadway show next weekend and I'm looking for a damn good place to have dinner before. any recommendations? preferrably the restaurant should be within walking distance of the theatre.

Gotta go with the Khlav Kalash. Just remember to get the crab juice to wash it down.

Isn't there a Subway at Broadway and 57th street? $5 footlong FTW! :D
I'm partial to Yoshinoya for a beef bowl...
I've heard ruby foo's is a good place. anyone eaten there?
No, it's dog food, unless you're interested in a subpar version of PF Changs. Try Serafina.
Didn't know that was possible.
Sardi's or Victor's Cafe
I should be a little more specific. I'm looking for a well-known, classy, sit-down restaurant (maybe an italian or french place) where you'd take a date. Sardi's looked like a solid choice. I've also heard of the russian tea room and the 21 club. Aside from a couple places, I have no idea what's well regarded since I've never been down around broadway. Any suggestions that fit this would be great thanks.
Sardi's is a New York classic (as is the tea room). Can't go wrong with either. Question is: can you get in this late in the game?
Ok, ok, how about McDonald's at 45th? Didn't know you were looking for chairs. Little pricier tho- $8 for a 1/4 lb value meal vs. $5 at Subway.
In all seriousness, if you want to do top of the line and spend $100-150, go with Del Frisco's or City Lobster at Rockefeller Plaza or the Blue Fin in Times Square. As for me, I'd aim for $60 and go with something more like Carmine's, Saigon 45, or a few places in Hell's Kitchen.
As far as I am aware, there is nothing in-between the $30/plate restaurants and the $70/plate ones in Times Square. If you want to be classy and/or make her feel really really uncomfortable, take her to Del Frisco's or The Blue Fin. Otherwise, Carmine's is a perfectly good place, if it is a bit of a more family atmosphere.
haha okay thanks Illini. why would those places make her uncomfortable, just because there so pricey? I was thinking around the $100 range give or take a few bucks. it doesn't have to be super high class, but definitely a nice and comfortable sit-down - which is why I thought an italian place or steakhouse would be good. you think sardi's or the russian tea house would fit this criteria? I also found a couple places called maison and marseille that look pretty good. but I'll take a look at carmine's and saigon 45.
Check out Firebird. It's one of my favorite date spots. Russian (so a little different then the Italian/French we all take our girls to eat), in your price range, great for pre-theatre.
