Certified User only section

I completely understand that the business model for WSO is to a) bring in a wide variety of finance people and b) to cross-sell related products, but it seems that every other thread nowadays is an undergrad or intern asking whether they should choose university/group/bank A or B (which realistically makes absolutely no difference) or the socially inept asking how to have a conversation. Don't even get me started on the investment banking forum. This really dilutes a lot of the golden content that is on here.

Could I suggest that one forum (similar to IBD, ER etc.) is 'Certified Users' only? This would allow for some real discussion about real issues without an "incoming summer analyst" opining on salaries, job prospects at a bank etc. Just one small area. I know there is already the CU chat, but if you check the site infrequently (once every day or so) it's much easier to build a sub-community through a forum rather than a chat.

No, I will stand by that lol. I had a prior account named after my e-mail, and I realized recently that if anyone wanted to search Google using my e-mail (without that @.....com), they'd find a bunch of my WSO comments, and I don't always exactly speak professionally. I had to e-mail Patrick to delete that account, but it's still there. There needs to be a clean wipe function.

There should be a feature similar to reddit where you can remove your username's association with the thread but the posts still stay. That way others can still reference the threads and see the different comments, but they remain separate from the original poster's account. As someone who has used this website since they were in UG, there are probably a lot of dumb questions I have asked over the years (especially when I didnt know how to use WSO, so Id ask something along the lines of "Which investment banks operate in Denver").

I wanted to bump I think this is a high priority for most certified users. I feel much better trusting data points when I see they are from a certified user. You also would have an entire section without trolls. I think we could allow uncertified users to reference the threads, but just disable their comment capability.

Additionally, at WallStreetOasis.com it might be worth having a WSO Admin approve job title changes. One thing fishbowl has over WSO is that you have to get approval for title changes.

Great idea. There have been some really interesting threads with buy in from the more experienced folk and were really insightful discussions. The more recent ones being the PE guys asking for thoughts behind selecting advisors etc. Unfortunately those get buried under the political, prestige and EB vs. BB posts

Gives the more senior folk a forum for discussion AND a reason to stick around.
