Jpmorgan hid 2 coronaviruses cases from employees for a week & we find out from CNBC this evening, not through the OC.....

Are you trolling? The hospital system is over run in Italy and healthy young people are passing (Although not nearly as much as old people). Conservative estimates show 500,000 dead in the USA.

Not to downplay the severity of the situation, but many reputable sources track cases and deaths. Here's one of the sources: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

So far, 68 deaths in the US and 6,500 deaths worldwide. Kinda far off from the 500,000 deaths you're stating. I think everyone should have real stats and then make a well-informed decision on how they want to react to the situation. Overstating facts causes further panic.

Also, according to Centres for Disease Control, Covid-19 has a fatality rate of 0.9% to 3.4%, depending on existing underlying conditions and age. As long as you practice safe distancing (even if you're forced to go to the office - no handshakes, wash hands, and wear a N95 mask, etc) you can significantly reduce chances of catching it. But if you do catch it, its not a death sentence. 50% recovery rate and 3% fatality rate so far. Stay safe

Insane lack of concern shown by banks towards their employees here - have heard multiple accounts of people being diagnosed with Covid-19, and banks either withholding or delaying release of the information and then permitting colleagues to continue working on the same floor that the infected person had worked on.

At least for IBD / M&A functions, there is no reason why people can't all work from home for the time being. I guess that the banks are concerned about their bottom line especially since this year is likely shaping up to be a very bad one, but it's honestly no excuse when your own people's lives are at risk.

Stop complaining and just short the banks that have old execs in your PA. Maybe especially the ones that have a lower headcount and are known for being the hardest of the hardos like Lazard maybe. If you’re young you’re aren’t going to die. The older bankers are idiots for not working from home. If the hardo MDs get sick it is their fucking fault.

You do realize that some survivors suffer from PERMANENT lung damage, right? They can’t even walk fast without feeling like they are suffocating! This impacts them for the rest of their lives. Out of the 12 individuals that were examined, 9 of them had lung damage according to scans.

I'm surprised the media hasn't caught on to this. Would show WSO in a great way actually honestly with finance people being able to voice their concerns and make known acts of injustice done by banks. All in an attempt to make banking culture better.

C'mon man. JPM is already having a tough time dealing with Dimon's hospitalization. If you release this, you're really going to drive their stock price down

Who the fuck cares about a stock price when people's lives are on the line. Get your head out of your fucking ass.

Wow, the assholes seriously just sent an email to all mid-town employees saying they wont notify us when there are coronavirus cases. They will only contact the "potentially impacted individuals" who sit near the person.

Do they seriously not understand how the virus spreads? It spreads in the air, and spread is being driven by asymptomatic people. They could acting like "deep cleaning" infected areas means jack shit.

They are going to have 1000+ sick employees in a week, and the deaths will be on their hands.

Exactly, both 383 and 277 park absorbed most of the headcount from 270 park that they are tearing down, so even with 50% WFH, it's still extremely crowded. It's also mostly open office, non-ventiliated, windows don't open type of building (E.g., my whole floor was sick pretty much all winter because thats how viruses spread...). It's insanely dangerous and I am documenting everything because there needs to be legal consequences to JPMC for this.

For those interested, here's what they said in most recent email they sent out:

"Given the breadth of the pandemic, our goal is to quickly notify those who most need to know, which means we will not inform the entire buildings each time a confirmed case occurs"

For all the talk about being a “tech company”, the upper echelons of JPM still run as if it’s 1999 and somehow believe that time in seat = productivity. Never mind that if you walk around any banking floor at any given time, you’ll see plenty of people just browsing WSJ/FB/Insta/Tinder. Of course the senior bankers with that antiquated mindset can’t fathom that work can be done anywhere but at a dark wooden desk with a tie around your neck.

Created alt for obvious reasons.

I have had a fever and cough since Thursday. I am 100% sure I have coronavirus and have let my team know.

There are still not tests available in NYC unless you need hospitalization. The JPMC process is to only notify coworkers - the ones that sit near you at least - when you have a confirmed test. However, it's impossible to get a test unless you need to be hospitalization. Since I am young and healthy, I wont be hospitalization (knock on wood), and won't be tested.

Everyone who sat near me last week is at risk, but JPMorgan won't even notify anyone.

I don't see a case where thousands of employees aren' infected by Friday, and this was completely unnecessary. I could be lets say 90% effective WFH, now I'm 0% effective because I'm too sick to work.

Using a throwaway account here. Also work at 383 and our group gave no formal announcement of the 50% WFH test run last week until Friday night at 7PM after pencils down. Likewise, we had no idea how officially WFH was going to work or when it would start. We got an email from OC on Thursday (after we all came back into the office) morning but didnt hear anything from the group head / seniors until later in the evening. This lack of communication / direction is kind of ridiculous coming from a place that calls itself an industry leader.
