Fellow Primates, I wanted to ask for more moderators to help us moderate the boards.
We have a small group of moderators now and they are doing a good job but it is tough to keep up so I am looking to give moderator status to 10 of the more responsible users with a clean post history to help with the following:
Keep forums in the proper place. Interview questions need to go in the Get a Job forum, not Investment Banking forum, for example.
Delete double posts or useless comments.
I am also going to start blocking the IPs of some of the more egregious trolls on the board. While they can provide some comic relief from time to time, I think a lot of their jokes are getting old and they are detracting much more than they are adding.
So I just wanted to give the trolls their fair warning. Your IP won't get blocked automatically (yet) but consider yourself on probation if you are one of the Soiled Monkeys.

This is nice to see, the trolls have seriously detracted from the site and made some interesting/intelligent unbearable to read.
I was about to pm you regarding the trolls, you know they're really getting out of hand when they have more posts than legit posters.

I like the idea of eliminating some of the more boring trolls on the board. I'm getting very sick of hearing the PJ/FTP jokes and the "BB or Bust" attitude is pretty short sighted and childish. Goodluck to the new mods.
PJC can actually be quite entertaining, at times...

In my opinion, Moderators should be those who have a King Kong or better rating. Great idea, ban those who curse. Let's make this a prestigious website for individuals that are:
Goal oriented, persistent and resilient.
There are only 11 people at King Kong level or above....not enough to moderate a board of this size

Glad to see this is being done Patrick. While they can be funny, it's getting to be a little too frequent. We need to keep WSO business oriented.

Star means you are certified which means you provide Patrick with a work email so he knows you are legit. More info on it is on the FAQ's section.

as to anthony/drexel. clearly i know the rules since i mention not having a bb addy anymore, indirectly ask for my posts to be checked and am trying to expand my options for getting a star. its called subtlety and negotiating. i think it could be a fair trade off and i have nothing to lose. its up to patrick.

Obviously you don't make someone a mod solely based on the number of posts they have - these trolls have way more bananas than most people. My point is that I would rather have someone be a mod who has been posting for a while on this forum instead of somebody with 65 bananas.

Honestly, this has been a long time coming. I've seriously decreased my site visits / participation on the forum due to the degradation here on WSO and this place is really a great forum when people really help out. Glad to help.
