Spam Filter needs work

odd - can you give more specifics about the post? are you able to just post the link?

The spam filter while occasionally blocking a legit post has done wonders by eliminating 99% of the spam on here.

to be honest probably 30-40% of the messages I tried to posts lately have been blocked. It's really quite ridiculous...

Thanks for the feedback. Anyone else? I am looking into it now...the statistics say that yesterday, out of 641 comments, 32 (5%) were spam attempts. If you are posting frequently and triggering the spam filter a lot maybe it has to do with the IP you are posting from.

I probably made 3 quick posts in maybe a 10 minute span. When i took the http syntax off the link it posted ok.

I had some problems with the filters too. I was posting a few links in reference to something (Fox News, The Examiner, Wikipedia and a few Youtube Links that I didn't want to embed) but once I removed the links (all of them) I could post just fine. Any suggestions Patrick?

I've never had a post blocked, and I've made a lot of posts. I'm quite pleased with a more restrictive spam filter rather than a less restrictive one.

I've been getting Spam filtered a ton the last 2 days. Never really happened before. It's blocked me on a few threads..

I've been having issues with this on a few posts (had to search this)...

I only get blocked when I type words that would make my mother blush...other than that it works well

Every comment that I tried to post was blocked when I was doing it from my school's network. But I am not getting blocked here in Frankfurt.

Dude language controls? Are you serious I cant say sl*tty? What is this 5th grade? Please get this fixed I dont know how long I can control my sailor mouth.

Don't control it, replace a with 4 or @, i with 1 or l (L), u with v, that should make it work for ya, o with 0 (zero)

Yeah, the language controls are a little over the top...especially for THIS industry...

Kids want to know what it's like in the trenches at 3AM in pitchbook hell...this is what it's like, this is who we are, this is the language we use.

I do like the spam filter though, thus far. I'm sure there are workarounds for the legit posters above who are getting blocked.

Ok, we were getting hammered with spam bots when we disabled mollom. I just reenabled it but I think this time if something doesnt come through it will save it for moderation. Please let me know here if you are getting blocked a lot for no reason by sendming me what you are trying to post in a PM.

Hopefully this will stop the spam but also let you guys post what you want.

Ok, seems like the new filter puts any suspicious comments into a queue for approval....I think it is still putting a ton of comments into the queue that should be approved but it is better than getting blocked. I will see if we can tweak this more and/or create a system to approve the non spam posts quickly.

I'm pretty sure the only reason people were getting blocked was for using curse words in their posts (which none of the actual spam has done that I've seen). If you guys can turn off the cursing trigger, it should work beautifully. Thanks Patrick!

Side note: just made a post that popped up the word verification, I think that's a great idea, I hope it works well.
