Activist Hedge Fund Research Team

Hi all,

I was hoping to get some advice on breaking into the research teams at event-driven/special situations hedge fund focused on stressed/distressed and catalyst-oriented/situational opportunities (restructurings, bankruptcies, spin-offs, etc.) in both public and private securities across the capital structure. I understand most of the investment team comes from IB, PE and MBA backgrounds.

I'm a senior who has a passion for investing and a keen interest in activist strategies. It would be ideal to start from the ground up at one of these firms on the research side, so I could learn to ropes and one day join the investment team. Any insight on activist hedge fund research teams, breaking in, lifestyle, work they do, comp etc. would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
