Airline lost luggage

Hi. I have a final round interview with a HF (not in NYC).
Airline lost luggage but fortunately I have my suit and dress shirt and belt. Only thing I don’t have is black dress shoes and tie.
Is this the type of thing that I should go out (Uber) and buy a tie and dress shoes? I’m guessing I can’t get away with just telling hedge fund what happened.

I would email them about what happened. Especially if you’re new to the city, they would probably understand.

I wear size 15 shoes, can’t even buy it in stores. So I would definitely understand and not hold wearing sneakers against you.

People are a lot more understandable, we tend to assume the worst.

Why are you checking luggage for a short trip? If you’re getting flown out for an interview then you should pack everything into a carry on and manage it yourself. Telling the firm about this will make them question whether you’re a prima-donna who is high maintenance and cannot manage your affairs, also reflects questionable judgment on your part.

Putting your dress shoes in the carry on doesn’t take up a lot of space.

It’s not like you’re putting your coat into the luggage.

This definitely screams high maintenance drama queen. I’d pass hard on your candidacy. Just dodged a bullet, and a few hundred grand in unnecessary expenses for the firm.

Fr, if I put my dress shoes in carry on and even carry my suit in my hand, I can barely fit a change of clothes in the winter. Let alone shaving kits and any essentials.

I usually just check-in a bag with no carry on.

Short people have it easy.
