Any funds (larger than 200MM AUM) play in Both CRE and another Asset class?
I'm curious if there are any other funds that either plays Arb strategies or long-shorts between Commercial Real Estate and another asset class. During my stint in CRE I haven't come across another firm that has invests in both CRE and another asset class as part of a larger portfolio management strategy. Even talked to a few quants and pms at JPM and Blackrock. I couldn't get any info around this topic. I have so far only ever seen real estate as an inflation hedge. I am coming to the opinion that CRE is just insolated from the rest of finance.
Do you guys know of any firms or strats? I feel like I should be wrong here. A Relationship must exist.
CRE and other structured credit strategies can go hand in hand in a portfolio together and is not that uncommon. The issue is a lot of CRE strategies have longer maturities/durations so they can cause an asset-liability mismatch in a commingled fund structure that has quarterly liquidity
