Anyone heard of Anomaly Capital? Started by ex-Viking CIO. How Much money do you suppose he’s running? Looks like he has 5 people on the investment team, so maybe $500M? What strategy do you thinks he’s running and what industries?
It'll be bigger. Might be a multi-stage launch but will be >$1B by next Spring I heard. Think it's energy, consumer, and healthcare (but not certain about that). Also might be 6 people now. L/S, some amount of long exposure at all times but hedging for beta and factor risks to an extent.
They also have an ex-GS TMT + KKR TMT analyst and an ex-GS + Silverlake analyst, so would likely think they have a tech vertical as well
source?
Ever heard of LinkedIn?
How much do you think the analysts are clipping in comp each year?
Much more than I am
So I guess these analysts are at top of their careers?
It's one of the biggest equity L/S launches of the year, hearing may be closer to $1bn than $500MM when the fundraising is finished. Also one of the few serious non-platform L/S funds hiring analysts this year.
Any chance they're taking more junior people? And are they working with a headhunter?
Also curious about this if anyone has any info, think there’s a lot more upside to working at a place like this that has the credibility of one of the main Tiger Cubs but is very new
I know a few junior/mid level analysts who met with them earlier this year, they all got their interviews via 'friends of the firm.'
No idea if they're working w/ a headhunter.
Yes. Sounds reasonable
Anyone know what their performance has been?
How are they doing recently? HH mentioned they are hiring opportunistically
No idea, does anyone else know? Haven't seen them listed on any news sources on HF performance this year
They'll do just fine. They'll run massive long exposure and catch the bottom of the equity markets with a portfolio of high beta assets and then sell beta as alpha to allocators for the next decade. We've seen this story play out before.
Hey, as long as you get paid, who cares? Alpha doesn't generate fees, absolute returns do.
