Background for Event-Driven / Distressed Debt Hedge Funds?
Hey guys,
What's the best background for event-driven or distressed debt hedge funds? I'd assume restructuring for distressed debt, maybe DCM, idk for event-driven...
Thanks for the help,

Path to Event-driven funds (Originally Posted: 05/26/2011)
I done a search about this but I haven't find useful information. For example this topic: //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/path-to-global-macroevent-driven-hf is not very useful for the event driven route.
So I wanna know what do you think will be a good path to get in event driven. ER or IBD or else ?
Regards,
I had already read book like "You can be a Stock market Genius" o"r Risk Arbitrage" by Wysser-Pratte
I've heard of people at Paulson going from IB -> PE -> MBA or JD/MBA -> event arb
IBD (restructuring and M&A) are the most common in my experience, a number of these places like PE experience as well (3rd Point and Glenview have been known hire people from PE, for example).
I think i-banking is #1 as well. More specifically in a Lev Fin / M&A / R group.
Thank you very much !
