Best firms/teams for a quant career

I am beginning a career in quant finance, and it seems like information about hedge funds and prop trading shops are quite conflicting all over the place. I am in good position to be competitive in most places (good GPA, solid internships and technical projects, etc.), but I wonder what are the best firms to start from in terms of future career prospects and compensation. It seems to me that places like BlackRock SAE/SFI offer pretty good career prospects/lifestyle, but somewhat worst compensation, while firms such as Citadel are pretty toxic although rewarding financially. Prop trading seems like a good option too, but it sounds a little bit restrained in terms of growth and quite stressful in day to day. Does anyone have any input in the topic?
